I have a blue card, can I use it in another state?
Currently, Working with Children Checks are managed at a state or territory level and in accordance with their respective legislation. Your blue card is only valid when you are providing child-related services in Queensland and cannot be used in any other jurisdiction.
Please see the information below for a general guide to the screening requirements in each state or territory and the contact details for the relevant screening body.
If you are visiting interstate and propose to provide any child-related services, please speak to the relevant body for more detailed advice about what you should do.
New South Wales
If an interstate employee occasionally has to work in NSW, they do not require screening. For example, a Queensland teacher on an excursion to NSW does not need a NSW Working with Children Check.

Victoria
Any interstate visitors working with children who do not ordinarily reside in Victoria are not required to undergo employment screening.

Western Australia
In Western Australia, short term visitors who wish to provide child-related services do not require screening during the initial two week period after they arrive in WA. If they work for more than a two week period within 12 months, they may require screening.

South Australia
If you are visiting South Australia and will be working or volunteering for a short term event or activity of less than 10 days duration, or for no more than one day in any month, you do not require screening.

Northern Territory
If you are visiting the Northern Territory to volunteer with children, you do not need to be screened if you will be working for a period of no more than 14 days per year.

Tasmania or the ACT
Currently, Tasmania and the ACT do not have an employment screening system however these are likely to be introduced in 2011.
I'm visiting Queensland, do I need a blue card?
Under the Commission’s Act, there is no exemption or provision that deals specifically with interstate visitors. However there are exemptions within certain categories of regulated employment or business that might apply to interstate visitors providing services to children in Queensland.
