What are Commission Community Visitors?

Commission Community Visitors make regular visits to children and young people in alternative care.

They provide help and support and listen to any concerns they may have.

Community Visitors can help you solve your problems if you live in:

  • a youth detention centre
  • out-of-home residential care, such as a youth shelter or a mental health facility
  • supported accommodation
  • respite care, or
  • foster care.

You can ask staff or your carer to find your local Community Visitor’s number or call the Commission on freecall 1800 688 275 from anywhere in the state.

You have the right to ask for a visit by a Community Visitor any time. There's bound to be one near you.
